Green technology



Our new factories are designed to operate in the most efficient and sustainable way possible. They are delivered as energy-neutral facilities, incorporating a range of green technologies. These include maximizing natural light to reduce artificial lighting (creating a healthier and safer workplace), reusing rainwater, and building with medium-weight concrete, a material that naturally balances heating and cooling cycles during summer conditions.

Based on VDL’s vision and the experience gained from the current VDL Citea fleet, a fully electric bus concept has been developed, designed for the future, where zero emissions are a given. With batteries integrated into the floor, a one-piece composite sidewall, intelligent energy management, an optimized climate system, and an ergonomic driver’s cockpit, VDL introduces the new generation Citea product range.

This new line consists of four length variants and five model types, offering significantly improved range and efficiency compared to previous generations.
