Twins Oosterhout: LED Lighting for Top-Level Baseball and Softball
Twins Oosterhout is one of the leading baseball and softball clubs in the Netherlands, competing in the country’s highest division: de Hoofdklasse.
With a strong tradition in elite sports and a large, dedicated fan base, Twins plays an important role in the development of baseball and softball, both at recreational and professional levels.
To continue meeting the requirements of de Hoofdklasse and international standards, the club embarked on a major modernisation of its sports complex, selecting VDL Sports Projects as the technical partner for the new sports field lighting system.
New Lighting Installations for All Fields
As part of the redevelopment of the sports park, new lighting masts were installed on all baseball and softball fields. The systems are equipped with Philips Optivision LED luminaires, providing uniform light distribution and optimal visibility for players, officials, and spectators. With this modern LED technology, the facility meets the standards required for Hoofdklasse-level games, including the demands of TV broadcasts and evening matches.
In addition to the masts, all underground power cables were completely renewed, installed in accordance with current safety and sustainability standards. This ensures that the installation is not only reliable but also future-proof in terms of capacity and management.
Smart and Sustainable Lighting Control
The upgraded system features dynamic light control, allowing the brightness to be adjusted per field and per situation. During training sessions, the lights can be dimmed, while full intensity is used for matches.
This approach results in significant energy savings and lower operational costs, without compromising on light quality or safety. The system is operated via an intuitive interface, enabling coaches, managers, and officials to easily adapt the lighting to the activity at hand.
